As a lifelong baseball fan it has always been a goal/dream of mine to see a games at several of the big-league ballparks, including Wrigley Field in Chicago. Thus, when my wife and I noticed that our Minnesota Twins would be playing a series against the Cubs at the historic venue this season (right around her birthday) we couldn’t think of a reason not to go!
So we took the road trip down to Chi-town on June 11 and stayed at a friend’s house. We met up with some other friends down there and went to the game on June 12… after pre-gaming in Wrigleyville of course.
The stadium was as amazing as I expected. I loved the charm, the history, the green grass, the flags, the ivy – everything lived up to the hype. We even got to see a Twins victory and a Joe Mauer home run. I had been to a Twins game in a road stadium before (in Kansas City) but it was nothing like this. It was almost like a home game because of all the Twins fans that made the trek from Minnesota. I would estimate that at least a third of the crowd was rooting for the Twins. When the “Let’s go Mauer” chant drowned out the Cubbies fans, it was a fantastic thing to behold.

After the game we obviously had to hit Wrigleyville again to celebrate the victory and the bars were absolutely packed. The energy was outstanding. The whole experience made me anxious for next year when the Twins open their new outdoor stadium, Target Field.
My wife and I already have our season tickets. Can’t wait!

Sounds similar to our Wrigley experience where my Cardinals destroyed Zambrano and cleaned out the Cubs…nothing better than a huge rivalry victory like that to make the road trip that much more worthwhile. Love that stadium! Glad it was such a great trip for you guys.
Looks like you had a great trip. Your wife sounds like the coooollleeesssttt wife ever. You are lucky.
